Time to relax

Clean Energy NOW! turns out to be quite a lot of work (which is no problem). Spent the last days talking to people, asking them to put a single prim item on their land, enabling visitors to get a notecard and/or to give a donation.

(If you want to help out, drop by the HQ and pick up a copy, or go to this website)

But, it is also time for relaxation... so I visited this professor, and tried out a few machines. Should not have done that, because I suddenly found myself in a town called Sigil, in 1864, being a deputy sheriff.

Been trying to avoid getting shot by outlaws for a while, and am now able to go from now to 1860 and to the present. I will drop by there more often, it's fun :)

But now, I am back in the Clean Energy NOW! Headquarters, preparing for tomorrows event: PO - the end of the world as we know it?

Clean Energy NOW! formed

Great news!
During one of the events where I sold my clean energy products at discounts, a group of people came by who were enthusiastic about the concept. So, I started the group Clean Energy NOW! We have a few guys who are interested in helping out, but there is a lot to do:

1. Build up a name
2. Setup the forums (we have http://s8.invisionfree.com/Clean_Energy_NOW/) already, but it still needs a skin (any invisionfree-wizards out there?) and more content.
3. We will need a good range of lectures and discussions, so we can reach as many people as we can!

Another cool thing: I was interviewed yesterday by a girl who said she works for "one of the biggest Brazilian Newspapers". I hope we can get in there, so that more people will join in our efforts and we will manage to make a big change :D

Moving up the careerpath

Even though I love to dance, the dance-job I am currently holding is not the way I want to keep earning all my money for the rest of my life. So, I kept an eye open.

I am sooooo happy that I now got a job as communitymanager on talksecondlife.com (go sign up, mention me as your referral, so I can stay). Talksecondlife.com is a nice forum where we talk business, fun and SL in general.

And then, I also got a job as Business Manager for Lederberg Investments. Seems like I will be moving into real estate and business consultancy :)

Introducing to SL: clean energy

The movie "an Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore has brought climate change to the attention of a large number of people. Most people now realize that the use of oil at the rate with which we are doing that at the moment cannot be sustained, if we want to save our climate that is. The movie paints a picture of disaster due to our Carbondioxide emissions.

What many people do NOT yet realize however, is that there may not be enough oil to meet our demand for energy in the first place.

Many believe that the production of oil is about to reach its highest level soon (or has reached it already), after which the production is to decline,. Combined with an everincreasing demand for energy... this is bound to bring problems. This is called Peakoil (www.peakoil.com), a theory first constructed by Hubbert who used it to *correctly* predict the oilproduction of the US for the period 1956-1980.

The extent of these problems varies, some foresee the end of the world, others figure it is no big deal. I personally believe the consequences of peakoil will be significant, but not the end of the world. However, peakoil too, demands that we work on getting alternatives for cheap oil energy.

To raise awareness of this topic, I am introducing a range of clean energy solutions into SL.

My first product is a windmill, white, with a 10m radius. (this week, L$50 of the L$150 sales price refunded when the discount voucher is returned).

And second: solarpanels

So drop by the shop -Sanggae (82, 206, 52) - to pick up one or more items, and put them on your land.

They look cool, AND they make a statement!

Grievers attack my shop

I went to my shop again today, and noticed a security agent in it.

The agent told me that my store had been vandalized by some grievers. I wonder who may have been behind that...(see post below).

And...big news: I had my first costumer today!

I sold him one of my mills :D

[6:11] Jenniferbugg Blackflag: and to be suspended from secondlife, you haven't saw a b**CH Yet bet that Shyt!
[6:12] Jenniferbugg Blackflag: 2 can play at the game also so time to get my kicks on YOU!

Hmm...Slander.
From: the Cobuild English Dictionary:
Slander:
1. Slander is an untrue spoken statement about someone which is intended to damage their reputation.

Well...
first: what I wrote is not untrue
Second: it was not intended to damage your reputation, you are quite capable of that yourself.

Thirdly...okay, I guessI won't call you bitch anymore than.

Fourth: go ahead and let staff investigate the situation. If they do their job well, they will see how I tried helping you when you were down, only to be mistreated two days later.

Have a nice life now, you "unpleasant woman"

addition:
I am not the first towards whom she has behaved like this. She also told me some people on another game wanted to destroy her, and I asked why... she acted all "I don't know"....

well, got my answer after all.

I have a shop

Yesterday, I took a class about being a shopkeeper. Was really fun, and practical due to the fieldtrip.

Also Liam Serf, the instructor, was giving very usefull info, later illustrated by a nice fieldtrip.

And today... I don't know what I was thinking, but I spent everything I have on rent for a piece of land, on which I am building a shop.

One detail... I don't have much to sell yet...

So, I am looking for partners.

A letter to Linden Labs

Hey there LL,

first of all: nice initiative of creating the world like that!

However, it has some flaws, many of those are already known (lag, crashes etc). But you also have made some business-mistakes.

1. Verification
As it stands, only Americans and a few -select- other nationalities can verify. Why... well, simple: you only allow CC and Paypal. But, paypal must be backed up by *drumroll* a CC in order to be accepted by LL. This means that I, and many others who cannot get, or do not want to get a CC are blocked from participating in the SL community to the fullest extend.

I am unverified, and as such, I am considered by a large number of people "a potential griever". I don't know how it sounds to you, but basing such an opinion about someone merely on the fact that someone is unverified sounds a bit odd. After all, replace "a potential griever" by "a serial rapist" and the word "unverified" by "Afro-American" and the phrase "Unverifieds are potential grievers" translates into something that would get you sued.

You guys want a better world? Then stop this discrimination

2. Revenue blocked
Also, the weird system where a CC is required in order to become a premium member and to use the LindeX is effectively blocking me, and many others, from becoming a paying member and/or buying land.

I have US$ 3.43 on my Lindenaccount, because I was so foolish to try and sell some money I made doing stuff I am not proud of. I figured, I could either send it to my paypal, or use it later to buy lindens at a better price.

NEITHER ARE POSSIBLE!

I cannot send it to my paypal, because for that you guys would need my creditcard (I really do not understand that bit) and I can also not use my account balance to buy Lindens, because... you require my CC info...

so let me get this straight... I could attempt to wire US$ 1000 on my account, and then it just stays there forever? I can't get it back, nor can I use it to buy Lindens.

So, I figured I'd write some proposals for you guys... but well... nobody has bothered to check www.secondlife.com/vote since AUGUST 22nd! And of course, the forums are no-go for us unverifieds (replace forum by bus, and unverifieds by black and you see: l'histoire, se répete)

What the hell are you guys doing???

Another class

TUi (or something) is doing another class today, think I will rush to make it...that is... if the teleport won't fail me again, as it has so often today...

Suffering black-outs

Something strange is going on....

last thing I remember, I have been dancing for a few hours in a row (for L$4/10 minutes) and then, suddenly, I am in Korea2... some big city. I am standing on the street and I am naked.

And I have NO IDEA how I got here.

I check my money, I didn't get paid.

What is wrong with me? Where is my money? Where are my clothes? Where am I?

A few people are talking to eachother on the other side of the street, speaking of package loss, routers being overused, bandwith, sims crashing... I am getting more and more confused....

Struggling with a vendor

My inventory is so full at the moment, and there are even items from classes in there.

So yeah, I figured I might open a store and try to sell some stuff in there. Step one, acquire a vendor... easy.

Step two: set up the vendor

Not so easy

I spent the last three days trying to figure out how to do it, but I just couldn't... the How-to-guide was just un-understandable to me. Today, I spoke to the guy who brought me to this vendor in the first place, Sargas Kraken, and he took the time (over an hour) to explain to me how to set up this machine.

And he actually succeeded!

Another class

Well then, some people did some classes later today, on inventory cleaning.. didn't learn anything. I mean, I know HOW to clean up my room, but that doesn't mean I am actually gonna, now does it?

The other class was more interesting: I built this online tracker/message machine. Was almost too easy. But it IS giving me ideas for future projects :D

Schooltime

Even though dancing can be a lot of fun, I have decided this is not the thing I want to be doing untill I am old enough to retire. So what else is there...? Of course, I could go into the escort business, but that isn't something for the long-term, after all, how would I then get income when I am old and wrinkled up?

So yeah... I kinda decided I needed to educate myself. And today; was first day of school!

I got up early, made myself lunch, which I put in my nice Love Bears lunchbox and left home. I had to wait for the bus for a few minutes, but I arrived at New Citizens Incorporated (NCI) just in time for class: Basic building

Wasn't shocking what we did, but -hey- the basics never IS. I basically made a cube, hollowed it, textured it and moved it around.

The next class was cool though! I made a pool! Complete with tiles, water and nice splashing sounds AND... a floatie!

Too bad my yard is too small to use it....
